All along I thought Sapporo Ramen was the best in the mainstream category, it was after my recent visit to Tampopo then I realized how wrong I was.
Apart from their popular ramen delicacies, Tampopo also serves one of the most extensive menus in town that you may just wish you are in for a buffet.
ソフト・シェル・クラブ唐揚げ - $7.50
We kicked started our dinner with deep-fried softshell crab. Refreshing lemon juice only whetted the appetite even more.
スバイシー黒豚とろラーメン - $14.80
Pork and chicken soup base and usually thick noodle made from special Hokkaidou flour are used for the Sapporo ramen here.
Although I found her Spicy Black Pig Toro Ramen too spicy for my palate, my companion love any slurp of her chewy noodle.
特選焼豚ラーメン - $15.30
My BBQ pork Kyushuu ramen didn't disappoint.
It takes 2 days to prepare this broth, from stewing pork bones, as seen from its milky appearance. When coupled with springy noodles, the robust and hearty flavours gave a slurping pleasure parallel to none.
Worth noting is this tantalizing piece of kurobuta charsiew. With just the right balance of fat and lean, it takes no time to melt in your month.
It comes in a pair which every ramen ordered.
Now I am officially a convert of Kyushuu Ramen.
