Local bedsheet company Aussino has been expanding into the F&B industry, and within a few months, they have opened their 2nd F&B company - Relax Bistro. It is situated at a small corner of 313 @ Somerset, nearby Mango and Pedro.
We were attracted to this shop after ZbNow (Life! section of Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao) featured this small bistro due to its value for money price and good food.
I like ice-water with some fruit taste in it. And here at Relax Bistro, slices of strawberries have been added into the ice-water.
The tomato soup was creamy and tasty.
Pan-seared Foie Gras with banana muffin topped with parmigiano cheese, onion marmalade and balsamic reduction (S$18.90). Was quite disappointed with the quality of Foie Gras, but for this price we should not complain too much.
Escargot baked with in herbed butter (S$12.90) - Fresh escargot with a garlic butter taste to it. Good for diners who want a mild introduction to eating eascargot. The escargot was juicy.
Aglio Olio with prawns (S$17.90) - Linguine tossed with extra virgin olive oil, garlic, chilli, basil pesto and prawns. Thumbs up for the Aglio Olio. It was one of the best Aglio Olio which I had in recent times. The pasta was soft yet firm, the extra virgin olive oil had a good taste to it, and the chilli and garlic complimented the fresh prawns. I would gladly eat this dish everytime I am here!
Seafood Cioppino (S$18.90) - Angel hair pasta (requested for a change of pasta) served in seafood broth with lot's of seafood. The pasta and broth were cooked in the oven and wrapped in foil. When the waitress opened the foil, the steamy hot broth virtually filled the entire table with the smell of the fresh ocean. The broth was very sweet due to the large amount of seafood and juicy tomato. Another excellent pasta dish from Relax Bistro.
After the great pasta we had, we tried their desserts. In the foreground is Panna Cotta (S$7.90)and the Tiramisu (S$8.90) is in the background. I like their Tiramisu which had mascarpone cheese with coffee liquor soaked in ladyfingers. But find the Panna Cotta average, which had classic Italian cream topped with strawberry compotte.
Their Morgentau Green Tea which consists of large leaf sencha and petals which had hints of lemon and mango, was served in beautiful pot and cup. A unique 3 minutes hourglass was given so that diners can time the pouring of the tea from the pot correctly.
I had not try the other mains here. But you will not go wrong with their pasta dishes, especially the 2 we had today.
They also have very affordable set lunch from 12 noon to 2:30pm on weekdays, with pasta and other mains included.
