In contrast to the lunch hour mad rush due to its proximity to the central financial district, this place is transformed into a relaxing yet vibrant landspace where bankers and white collars alike come to wash away their workday weariness.
It was my unintended visit to Ricciotti that I was looking for a place for late lunch and their 1-for-1 pasta signboard got my attention.
SALMONE BRUSCHETTE- S$12.80
Bruschette is one delicacy any Italian cuisine gourmand wouldn't want to miss. Freshly grilled ciabatta bread topped with savoury smoked salmon, cherry tomato, gherkins and rucola.
Rucola, more commonly known as rocket, is often used in Italian cuisine. I particularly liked the strong peppery flavour of its leaves which gave a somewhat acquired taste to the entire dish.
LINGUINE AL GRANCHIO - S$21.50
Linguine with crabmeat in creamy tomato sauce. The crabmeat not only added a sweet taste, the texture of the pasta was made smoother because of it.
TAGLIOLINI NERI CON CAPESANTE - S$24.50
Squid ink tagliatelle pasta in tomato sauce. This is my 1st time having non-linguine squid ink pasta, yet its taste was totally exceptional. In spite of being thicker, the tangliatella seemed to have been cooked evenly, yet there was freshness in every bite, which left me wondering whether they made fresh paste there.
It was a pity that there was little room left for desserts. If you have the room to spare, try their selection of gelatos which are Italian ice cream with low milk content, sure to go easy on your waistline. Perhaps another visit on a Sunday (1-for-1 gelato day) just for these sweet treats would be nice.
