Located at a corner of Eng Hoon Mansions, Caffé Pralet is just a short walk away from Outram Park MRT. The team behind it is led by Chef Judy Koh who is a veteran in the local baking scene. A chef then turned restaurateur, she is also the managing director of Creative Culinaire and holds various positions in many established culinary associations.
With every ala carte ordered, one can opt to make it a set meal for just $3.90 more, which would include a drink and cake of your choice.
I liked my Black Peper Shrimp Pasta which was delightfully light and tasty.
Available only on weekends, this was one good old Birtish classic dish filled with mouth-watering minced beef and topped with a golden brown mashed potato crust, puffing hot out from the kitchen. The meat base was very well seasoned and toothsome.
While cakes are available at $3.90 to $4.50 each, you are entitled to one slice when you order a set meal.
One of the cakes which was highly recommended by the friendly lady who attended to us. Green Tea Grateau, While the cake was not too sweet, its creaminess was well balanced by the bitter matcha flavour in the sponge, making one want to dig in for more after the first bite.
The Pralet is one of Chef Judy's signature creations and a must-try for anyone who comes to Caffé Pralet. Crunchy hazelnut praline base topped with a block of solid chocolate moose made from French dark chocolate. Dark as it appeared, the chocolate moose was surprisingly light and smooth.
Not only does Caffé Pralet offer comfort food at afforable rate, the café ambience here is really cosy and homely, especially in a gloomy rainy afternoon. Alongside the regular Asian and Western dishes everyday, daily specials are available on selected days of the week. So do check out their menu before making your way down.
