There are many sayings as on how Club Street got its current name. Many believe that it was derived from the many Chinese clubs once lined the street. One of which was the famous Chinese Weekly Entertainment Club which was founded in 1891 and remained as the leading club for several decades among Strait Chinese. It was a place where wealthy Chinese businessmen met for leisure.
Club Street, together with Ann Siang Road and Ang Siang Hill, which fall within the Chinatown conservation area, have gotten the shophouses conserved -and some made over- in the recent years, and are home to many upmarket restaurants and bar peppered on both sides of the street today.
Nazt is located some 50m away from Birds & Co., one of my favourite vintage bookstores that I frequent whenever I come to Ann Siang.
Despite its humble outside, Nazt is the type of place that enthralls guests the monent they set foot into the interior. The mural-adorned walls no doubt created a chic background for a comfortable dining experience for all.

Items on the lunch menu are available at an afforable price of $15, while addtional $3 will get you a 3-course set lunch which include a salad/soup of the day and dessert.
Soup of the day - Potato Leek
Chicken Kiev
Looking tough on the outside, you would be surprised by how tender this piece of chicken breast is when you lay your kinfe on. Flavoursome juice oozed out to meet the knife as it travelled effortlessly across.
The juicy mystery revealed. Stuffed with butter before breading, the melted butter sipped through meat during the cooking process, leaving there a moist and savoury inside.
Lastly, her dessert - chocolate ice cream.
Rib Eye Steak - $28.00
This steak was the answer to my recent craving for a hearty steak. Grilled to perfection and served with homemade red wine sauce, this piece of succulent steak will send many go weak in the knees upon the first bite. The refreshing bite of the rocket leaves cut through the tender beef, providing a much welcomed balance.
Homemade Apple Crumble - $10.00
Puffing hot from the oven, the stewed apple chunks dotted the crunchy crumble like little gems, contributed to an interesting juxtaposition of textures.
I still think that apple crumble and vanilla ice cream are best friends.
While dining at Nazt is a casual affair, the paintings on the walls added an extra touch.
If you think the $18 set lunch is the best part, guess what? Lunch menu here gets a revamp every two weeks. Here I have yet another reason to hit Nazt again.
