Shin-Sapporo Ramen

Shin-Sapporo Ramen is the latest addition to the local ramen scene. It is kinda tricky when it comes to find it due to the fact that it's not located inside the main shopping mall.

Shin-Sapporo's menu features four common ramen soup bases - Shio, Shoyuu, Tonkotsu and Miso. It also boasts a variety of of noodles which are made fresh daily.

While we were waiting for our food, one of the friendly waiters presented to us 2 extra slices of chashu as appetizer. Really appreciate that.

博多とんこつらーめん - $15.00

Having been to Miharu, I couldn't help but to make comparison with the robust tonkotsu broth I had back then. While the broth of my Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen was rather 'humble' for my taste buds, the noodles tasted a little starchy and somewhat 'separated' from the soup.

For it bore the name Hakata - widely regarded as the birthplace of rich pork-bone tonkotsu broth in Japan, this light-tasting version here just failed to hit the mark.

新札幌みそスペシャル - $15.00

This miso-based ramen on contrary didn't disappoint. Its thick curly noodles were smooth and resilient, rich in flavours of the miso broth. No complaint about the tender yakibuta chashu and runny egg as well.

Meanwhile I don't have a good reason for another visit, I will nevertheless still recommend Shin-Sapporo Ramen to the those who prefer a lighter version of this Japanese delicacy.
