Wild Honey

Brunch, which is a portmanteau made from the words breakfast and lunch, is meant to be a heavy meal meant to take the place of the both. While it is not clear where it was originated from, it nevertheless has become increasing popular in the recent years and definitely made life brighter for night animals like me who value every second after the moon is up.

Recommended by a friend who loves brunch, I showed up at Wild Honey one weekday afternoon during lunch time to avoid the weekend brunch queue.

Mexican Breakfast - $18

This was one big burrito which was filled with scrambled eggs, potatoes, mushrooms among other ingredients and served with 3 different sauces. It must be one popular dish here as I saw it on 3 out of every 5 tables.

English Breakfast - $22

I liked my English Breakfast which came with scrambled eggs, sausage, sautéed mushrooms (2 types), bacon and baked broad beans. Although I didn't like the normally mushy baked beans, the ones I had here were exceptionally well executed. The choice of broad beans produced a firm chewy texture, and with the flavourful sauce used left a lasting impression on my taste buds. It was a pity there was not any green on my plate.

Overall, the breakfast was tasty but filling that I didn't have my dinner until 9pm that day. Taste aside, I do agree that Wild Honey is not for the budget-conscious, as many gave me a startled look when were told I had a breakfast for $30. But if you like variety, do come down to Madarin Gallery to see what Wild Honey has to offer. As for me, I shall be back for their Tunisian Breakfast which looks absolutely gorgeous.

Now who says that only the early bird catches the worm?
