The Ship Restaurant (CLOSED)

If you are in your 20s, ask your parents and some of them may confess to you that The Ship Restaurant is one of those good old restaurants which they would flock to in their early 'pak tor' days. Many things can easily come to pass in a short span of a year. Being just several years younger than our country, The Ship has weathered through many storms and turbulences, and still remains standing at where it was four decades ago.

Life saving device

Once set foot into the restaurant, you will be transported into an old school kinda ambience with quirky décor, making you feel as if you are going on a cruise and 'welcome abroad' would be almost the next thing you may expect to hear from her friendly 'Captain' and crew members.

Besides the rustic charm and dim lightings of the restaurant interior, I liked the colourful table mats they used which made our dining experience more relaxing.

Complimentary Bun

Even if you have not yet been on broad, you probably have heard of the excellent escargots they served. Many who have been to The Ship just won't stop singing praises about their snails. With an open mind we decided to give it a try.

Escargot Bourguinonne - $13.90

Emerged from the kitchen piping hot, we were all too excited to see our Escargot Bourguinonne ($13.90). With the just the right amount of seasonings, the snails were well baked to the perfection. Being succulent and bouncy, half a dozen was never enough for even myself. The price however was what stopped us from ordering half a dozen more.

Grilled Cod Fish Fillet - $24.90

Little did I expect my Grilled Cod Fish Fillet ($24.90) would to be so overdone that it turned out tough and dry. I should have done my homework and ordered their signature Chicken Maryland instead.

Grilled Chicken Chop w/ Mushroom Sauce - $15.90

Contrary to my main, the Grilled Chicken Chop w/ Mushroom Sauce ($15.90 nett) set meal my companion chose was quite decent and value-for-money. Along with the main course it came with soup of the day and vanilla ice cream as dessert. And a cup of complimentary coffee/tea too.

Gear?

Although my main course was a big let down, I feel that The Ship deserves a second try not just for the earnest service but also its full house on the weekday evening despite its location. As I sense there are hidden treasures yet to be discovered on The Ship, it remains promising whenever my craving for escargots calls.
