After reading promising reviews on Taira Izakaya quite some time ago, I final had my chance to pay a visit last Friday. And if you are planning a trip there, there is no better time to vist than now.
As most of you know that having sashimi at a restaurant (especially in a hotel) can be a rather expensive affair, with the ongoing DBS/POSB credit card promotions, you can get to enjoy 3 slices of fresh sashimi for just $2. The choice of fishes are Salmon, Tuna, Mekajiki (swordfish) and Hamachi (yellow tail).
Hungry chopsticks had started moving before I could secure a decent shot. Arhhh...
This plate of salmon sashimi was effectively $10(++) under this promotion. Yes, that's right, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. And that's even cheaper than what you can get from any supermarket after the 'critical hour'. Afforable it was, its quality was never compromised, as every slice of sashimi we had was fresh and succulent. Although there is a ceiling of $10 worth of sashimi (15 pieces) per order, there is no limit to the number of orders you can make.
Other in-house credit card promotions include sushi @ $1 per piece, hand roll @ $2 per roll, Asahi Beer @ $4.8 per mug and the list goes on.
The Soft Shell Crab ($8) we had brought back fond memories about our favourite Japanese stall at faculty canteen during our schooling days.
Shishamo ($5 for 5 pieces)
The texture of our Ika Shioyaki ($12) was rubbery, a little disappointment.
Sake Ochazuke ($8). A little pricey for such a small serving.
Too bad my favourite Oden was sold out for the night. We had this Seafood Nabe ($20) as our soupy fix.
Do leave some room for their icy sweet treats - Yuzu Sherbet ($6), Sesame Ice Cream ($5) and Matcha Ice Cream ($5).
Service was friendly and attentive. When the bill was presented to us, our ala carte bill was further slashed by 10%. What a steal, I thought to myself.
This whole array of promotions is going to end this December, call the number below today to find out more.
