Gogo Rama

Located along Bali Lane lined with gaffiti-painted shophouses, Gogo Rama is a new kid in the block where you can find quirky artworks and gifts for your room and friends. There is also a small café in the shop space for one to chill.

All excited about this new find, a friend and I went down to check it out last week but it turned out that there wasn't a pleasant experience for us after all.

It all started when we wanted to place our orders.

Menu

Have you ever been to an eatery where you found that more than 90% of the menu was not available?

I'm actually cool about having to work with the lack of food variety if I'm well informed beforehand, but the frustrating episodes whereby I took long to decide on a particular thing but later only to find out it not available which got 'replayed' three times eventually got on my nerves.

Blue Monday - $4.90

Blue Monday ($4.90) was a concoction of orange and apple juices, not something to my liking.

Empanada - $9

After what felt like a good one hour wait, our Empanada ($9) finally showed up (we were the only customers then). This megasized Spanish 'samosa' filled with beef turned out to be quite tasty, and my companion concurred.

Feeding time

"I dare you to put your finger there." I challenged my companion.

Ambience wise, I liked the many artworks around the café, especially the ones by Anarkitty. The dim lighting made this space exceptionally cosy and inviting. The food selection here albeit limited was not too bad. Or should I say everything would have been better if only the deafening music wasn't there?

In between songs, often did we find ourselves speaking shouting at the top of voice during our conversation. Perhaps the café should seriously consider providing hearing protective equipment for the poor little girl who works here for long hours.

There is a no-photography policy in the house, meaning no pointing of cameras at the artworks and products.

I often got approached and advised by service staff not to take photos at eateries, but the way this was done here colud have be more tactful, in my opinion.
