We went to Jones The Grocer over at Mandarin Gallery for a quick dinner on Sunday night. This is Jones The Grocer first shop outside of Dempsey area. And as everyone already knows, Jones The Grocer originated from Australia.
Each table had bottles of salt and cups of sugar.
Eating here is quite an experience as you get to see different items on display and for sale at their grocery section around the dining area.
As usual, we had 2 glasses of iced water.
Cheese board (S$29 for any 3 choices of cheese) - The bowl of cheese was the blue cheese selection. Some may find it bearable, while others may not like such a pungent cheese. Served with crackers.
Soup of the day (S$11.50 for Mushroom Soup) - The Mushroom soup was served pipping hot and we could taste lot's of mushroom being used to prepare this soup.
Complimentary Bread platter for us with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dips.
Wanted something creamy and sweet to wash down all the food. So ordered the Peaches & Cream milkshake (S$7.50)
Rustichella d'abruzzo pappardelle pasta, with braised duck, mushrooms, spinach & parmigiano reggiano (S$28). This is quite a hearty dish with all the pasta, duck, mushrooms and others cooked together.
Was in the mood for some spicy stuff, so had the Lamb meatballs, slow braised with jones tagine spices, with minted yoghurt & grilled flat bread (S$27.50) - This had a very strong Moroccan taste to it. The lamb did not have any gamey smell to it. Special note to their flat bread too, which was quite fragrant.
