I have been in the mood for specialty coffee lately. But like the Chinese saying '醉翁之意不在酒' goes, most of the time I just wanted to find a place to kick back and soak in the laidback vibe that some of the indie cafés offer.
Cuppachoice has been in the Chinatown neighbourhood for over two years. With its core business of more than two decades in commercial roasting, it has produced many fine baristas, some of who have moved on and opened their own joints. The new Pause at Dominic Khoo’s 28th Fevrier has been marked on my radar.
My cup of Flat White ($4.20) wasn't lukewarm when it was served. Or perhaps I took too long to get the shot. A little disappointed with its taste which wasn't as intense as I expected. The texture was nevertheless velvety.
Almond Latte ($5.80)
The hint of almond flavour made this blend a delight to the taste and smell.
I was lucky enough to catch some heat over at the roaster.
Watching my 'to-go' list of new indie coffee places growing longer each day, I don't see myself returning for coffee any time soon. If you are in the area next time, here is noentheless one place to drop by and have a cuppa.
