A short stopover at Société Canteen, one of the latest in the specialty coffee scene, has made my recent trip to the Botanic Gardens ever more exciting.
Occupying the last shop space of the row, the café was quite small but cosy. Décor was minimalistic with white-washed walls. Open kitchen allowed easy coffee talk over the counter.
Its owner, Jonathan Tu, who has lived most of his life in Australia, decided to quit his bank job early this year to open this café for the love of the café/coffee culture in Aussie.
The set-ups were mostly similar to those of Strangers' Reunion. Papa Palheta's Terra Firma blend was at work. T2 teas were also avaiable in both cup and pot.
Off the menu you get freshly baked muffins and quiches. Offerings vary from day to day.
We arrived too late for weekend brunch (till 5pm). That makes for one more excuse to visit Botanic Gardens again soon.
