Two Sundays ago, I had the chance to meet the two ladies, Camy and Michelle, behind the blog CoffeeTablePeople.
Quite a recent startup I would say, the site takes readers on a visual tour to the many quaint and quirky cafés on our shores and beyond. I bookmarked the site shortly after it started and have since been loyally frequenting it whenever I need new waterholes. And besides, I find it really hard not to like their photos on the blog.
Our meeting point, Little Part I Café, a hole-in-the-wall in the tranquil neighbourhood of the Adelphi Park Estate off Upper Thomson Road. Serving up some of the western homecook favourites, simple yet comforting, it's one of those rare places that makes you feel like dining at someone's residence.
My early arrival allowed me some time to browse their story book collection while taking sips from my Big-Mug Hot Chocolate ($6.50).
Espresso ($3.50). Look at that lovely smoothy layer of foam.
Salmon Crêpe ($16.90) for the ladies.
My main was Irish Beef Stew ($21.90). Cooked to perfection with an alluring aroma, the flavoursome beef was fall-apart tender.
On the other hand, I did try my best to finish my greens (food wastage is a sin), the supposedly citrus dressing which carried a drench silimar to that of 'Mama Lemon' however turned the stomach. And the rest of the table readily agreed.
Lunch was ended on a sweet note with a simple dessert. I can't say for sure it was a good piece of Cheesecake ($5.50), but in the presence of great company, everything was just made sweeter.
Thanks for initiating this meeting Camy.
P.S. To save yourself some walking, the café is also accessible by its back door near Thomson Plaza.
