Among all the local hotels I know of, Gallery Hotel has the widest range of Japanese fares to offer. From a modest bowl of Hokkaido ramen at Miharu and to its rare Okinawan gem Mimigar, you can easily find something that the stomach fancies.
The bronze wooden interior of Satsuma is an enchantingly warm and cosy one. With walls adorned with illuminating sakura-shaped cut-outs, diners are allowed to feel as if they are in the autumnal Japan when the harvests are bountiful and food ingridients are at their best to be served. And indeed, the food here is suitably impressive and comforting, with all time izakaya favourites sit well alongside some modern ones.
Ever seen Okinomi Yaki ($6) served this manner? Now you've one.
This modern rendition of Tsukune ($5) was equally intriguing.
Our Grilled Gindara ($15) probably had too much fire time on the grill that it wasn't as succulent as we'd come to expect.
