Papa Palheta (CLOSED)

After my visit to The Steeping Room that left me ever so eager to meet the 'PAPA', I found myself knocking at its door twice the following week.

Situated in a row of shophouses and accessible only by the back door, Papa Palheta is a stark contrast to the bustling main road some 10 metres away, offering coffee connoisseurs just the perfectly conducive atmosphere for catching-up with friends over a cuppa aromatic brew, or simply for a care-free weekend unwind.

Call it a café you may, this place isn't quite like the others. For one, there is no cafeteria fare. No dessert, no tea, no kaya toast, but just freshly brewed coffee.

Also, it goes by no billing system. You only need to tip the amount you think your coffee is worth.

Karung Kuni collection

As you enter the tasting room, you would be easily taken by a sense of nostalgia. Sporting an eclectic collection of objects of the past, this lovely space makes one feel exceptionally at home.

A word of advice: Don't let your wallet carry nothing but $50 notes when you visit Papa.
