Pasta Brava Restaurant @ Craig Road

Pasta Brava Restaurant @ Craig Road

I love Italian food especially pasta. We drove pass this Italian restaurant and deided to check it out. Sorry for the poor picture quality as we did not made any reservation thus we only can have the outdoor seat. It is highly recommend to make reservation at this restaurant as the indoor seating is full when we arrived. The outdoor seating is at the corridor of the restaurant which is quite dark and warm. Nevertheless, the food is awesome.

The menu that looks like newspaper.

Complimentary Bread

Calamari ($16) , our starter. The squid is fresh and different from the usual tar tar sauce which comes with calamari. They serve it with their own tomato sauce which is very addictive.

Stracci Ai Gamberie Capesante ($22.50) , homemade pasta with seafood in pumpkin sauce. Pumpkin cream sauce with seafood , this is the first time i tried pumpkin sauce. One word : Awesome!! The homemade pasta was good as well and they are generous with the seafood. Do give dish a try when you visit the restaurant.

Fettuccine Carbornara ($20) , I am not a fan of carbonara as I think is it very fattening. But I did tried the sauce, it was good as well. According to my partner who order this dish, the carbonara is good but my Stracci Ai Gamberie Capesante is nicer.

Tiramisu ($10) , the tiramisu looks simply without much decoration. But don't judge the tiramisu by its looks coz it taste much better then it look

 Verdict : 4.5/5

This is certainly going to be one of my fave italian restaurant.

The Mayor of Tiny Town

The Mayor of Tiny Town

Two hungry ghosts passers-by taking shelter from the rain here decided to call it luncheon.

Hot Chocolate - $4.5

Kopi - $2

Aglio Olio & Mushroom - $12.9

Scrambling Eggs - $14.9

Nothing much to shout out about the food I had, though I would love to take home some of their lovely tableware.

Mickey mouse units

Ladies will find it difficult not to like the sweet décor of the café.

Like it or...

This place makes a great hangout spot away from the bustling city crowd yet being relatively accessible. I heard raves about their waffles items and the very special dessert. If you are a dessert lover, mark this place down.

Skirt @ W Singapore

We are back at W Singapore again. This time, to try out their grill restaurant.

Photobucket

The now famous W Singapore pool looks different at night. The pool is opened 24 hours, but I guess not many people like to have a late night dip.

Photobucket

All who enters W Hotel will pass through this famous logo of the hotel. Colour changes every few seconds.

Photobucket

It's a bit strange why would a grill restaurant calls itself "Skirt", but the name "Skirt" actually refers to skirt steak

Photobucket

Aging chamber for the beef. Looks a bit scary.

Photobucket

Started our dinner with the complimentary Sourdough roll. Came with Pesto sauce.

Photobucket

Orderd a bottle of St. Pellegrino (S$10 for 1L)

Photobucket

The 1st appetizer arrived: Seared King Scallops (S$28) with Dashi, apple and bacon powder

Photobucket

Squash Cappuccino (S$12).  When the maple butter melts in the hot soup, it's rich and fragrant. Nice

Photobucket

King Prawns (S$22), split and peppered.

Photobucket

The center masterpiece of Skirt is its open kitchen, where diners can see the chefs in action.

Photobucket

It's W Hotel. Everything is very elaborately decorated

Photobucket

Small bottle of bourbon apple juice to drink as palate cleanser before the steak. And BBQ sauce for the steak.

Photobucket

Flights of Red (S$45 by glass): (left to right) Shiraz, Malbec and Merlot

Photobucket

Cape Grim Australian Natural Grass Fed Angus Tenderloin 250g (S$44)

Photobucket

"Tajima" Australian Crossbred Wagyu Rib Eye MS6 250g medium (S$62)

Photobucket

My medium steak. I think we must commend that for this price, the steak is juicy and of good quality.

Photobucket

Salt selection for the steak : (from left) Skirt made Beef Salt, Rosemary Salt, Roasted Garlic Salt, Smoked Salt, Hawaiian Red Salt.

Photobucket

More condiments: Four peppercorn sauce, Blood orange and tarragon Béarnaise, Red wine and marrow sauce, Horseradish cream

Photobucket

Side salad : Smoked Kipfler Potato Salad (S$8) with Urbani Black Truffle

We were impressed by the good service, pocket friendly price, good food and of course the "coolness" of the entire place. Will definitely be back again.

NYC: Doughnut Plant

Peanut butter and banana. Tres leches. Carrot cake. The Doughnut Plant offers a splendidly innovative assortment of donuts which I can only dream of finding in Singapore.

YOLO. I wanted to make the most out of my trip to NYC, so I had... three donuts.
PA094064e
Dessert for breakfast, anyone? Torched with crackly caramelized sugar, the crème brûlée doughnut was piped full of voluptuous vanilla bean custard. It's a good thing that this dangerous treat comes in baby-sized portions.
PA094056e
The coconut cream variant squarely hit the sweet spot. Glazed with coconut shavings, the fluffy yeast-risen donut conjures of dreams of tropical islands with its silky coconut custard core. I hear that they actually shell fresh coconuts to make these!
PA094066e
While the texture of the yeast-risen donuts were perfectly light with right amount of chew, the dense cake donuts weren't much moister than from those from most donut chains. Paling in comparision was the pistachio cake donut, which came sans filling and simply studded with nuts.
PA094050e
I would have carted a dozen (or two) back to Montreal if not for my already-obese luggage. The carrot cake donut and nut milks call for a return visit!

La Luna Rossa @ Scotts Square

Christmas with my CDL mummies. They watched me grow, mentally and horizontally. I met them when I was 22 yrs old. The me then was young and naive. I felt like I could conquer the world, especially since CDL was my first corporate job in Shenton Way. I have forgotten how we became a lunch clique but lunch then was really happy. When the clock stroked 12 noon, we would walk over to the foodcourt at Far East Square, followed by Tea at Mr The Tarik or sometimes do some quick shopping at the push carts stalls. Then we would hurrily walk back to the office by 1pm. Actually besides the 3 of them, I had many, many other nice colleagues that treated me very well in CDL. They had extra patience towards a little girl and always showered me with my favorite comfort food. Siow Tin regularly bought me kueh dah dah from Bangawan Solo and Sarah would always have an answer to the 1001 questions that I had. Agnes always helped to vet through all my paper work before it reaches my senior manager. I have never regretted joining CDL although it lasted for only a short 2 years. Although many of us have not been keeping in contact, memories will last forever.

Now coming back to our Christmas dinner. I picked La Luna Rossa at Scotts Square because I love how it looks across the street. The full length window with cosy curtains hanging. I simply couldn't resist.
