Yan Ting @ St Regis

Yan Ting is one of our favourite place for Dim Sum Brunch.

Frankly speaking, we think that Cherry Garden & Cassia offer tastier Dim Sum. However, ample carpark lots, posh and very comfortable setting of Yan Ting, as well as the warm service (manager Mr. Danny Chan) surely won our hearts.

The Weekend A la carte style Dim Sum Buffet Brunch costs S$98 per pax. Slightly on the higher side, but definitely value for money with what they serve (especially with 25% discount if you are holding the hotel's Astor Card).

Animal activists may be jumping up and down, but I still cannot resist a good bowl of Shark's Fins Soup with Crab Roe and Scallop.

Each diner is allowed to choose a lobster done in a variety of way. As there were 3 diners, so we had tried out all 3 available ways. The first was the Cheese Baked Lobster.

Garlic Butter Baked Lobster. All the lobster served were sweet and succulent. The chef was able to bring out the freshness and sweetness of these crustacean.

Haw Kow Lot's of crunchy prawns wrapped in the very thin Haw Kow skin.

Chrysanthemum Dumpling 菊花饺 - Filled with more prawns and pork, and decorated with diced peppers.

Photobucket

Siew Mai - Juicy and savoury pork morsels with orange roe.

Photobucket

韭菜饺 - Similar skin as Har Kow, but here it is stuffed with healthy vegetables. They look like ingots made of Jade.

煎粉粿

Rice rolls with XO Sauce - The rice rolls were soft and had a QQ texture.

Crispy skin roast chicken - A favourite at many tables. Juicy chicken emat with a layer of crispy roasted skin without much fats.

Photobucket

Vinegar pork trotters - It's hard to find a good Vinegar pork trotters these days. Yan Ting did the dish proud. But it's an acquired taste and not everyone will like the sourish taste.

Photobucket

Char Siew Buns - The fillings was really porky and flavourful. Pau skin was fluffy and thin.

Photobucket

Hangzhou Slow Cooked Pork Belly with Crispy Golden Mantou - Forget about all the cholestrol issues. The meat and fat are so tender that they collapsed when a chopstick is inserted into the pork belly. Mop up the sinful sauce with the crispy mantou sticks.

Waterchestnut cakes - The desserts at Yan Ting were okay. A rather average waterchestnut cake.

Definitely value for money, and one of the top choice for Dim Sum brunch.
